- Eleanor Scheidemann is The Dog Lady. Owner and CEO of The Dog Lady, Inc. Founded in 2004 and located in Sacramento California, the business has reached out to clients across the United States. Her organization doesn't just train dogs. It builds relationships between owners and their pets to create a bond that will last a lifetime.
- With a successful business career for over 25 years, 10 specific to professional dog training and behavior modification; Eleanor has built an organization based on old fashioned values with modern ideas about how to bring people and pets together for mutual benefit. The company works with and seeks out highly skilled, professionals knowledgeable about many different breeds, temperaments, and methods of training. The Dog Lady and her associates are members of the Better Business Bureau (BBB), Association of Pet Dog Trainers (APDT), International Assoc. of Animal Behavior Consultants (IAABC), AKC Canine Good Citizenship Evaluators and Delta Society Pet Partners.
- The Dog Lady, Inc. has successfully trained everything from unruly adult pit bulls, to shy, withdrawn, puppies and remains confident that just about any dog can be trained. There are, of course, some dogs that simply are not trainable, but that is very rare. Most dogs labeled "not trainable" by others were so because they were not willing to try different methods or take the time to rehabilitate the dog. On the other hand, Eleanor's programs are different and she will do whatever it takes as long as it is humane and in the best interest of the dog, owner, and community. She works actively and personally with both owners who have beloved troubled dogs and rescue organizations who are trying to rehabilitate "bad dogs." Often, she will foster and financially support these dogs which you can see in the photo album on her training site, thedoglady.org.
"I have developed training programs that work for the modern pet owner. Anyone can call themselves a dog trainer but in order to understand animal behavior one must never stop studying the subject. I earn my living by helping dog owners solve their problems, not by exploiting them because they have problems. Years of working with dogs has shown me the difference they make in our lives and the amazing things they can do. I live with three dogs who are my best friends. I cannot imagine what my life would be like without them. I think of this every time I work with someone else's dog and I treat it as though it were my own."
