Gary: Hello everybody! And welcome to Wine Library TV! I am your host Gary Vaynerchuk, and this my friends is the Thunder show a.k.a. the internet’s most passionate wine program. And today we talk about Vino Nobile Di Montepulciano, a very interesting wine from Italy that I think a lot more people really need to understand, and really get into this wines from the Montepulciano are really interesting not to be confused with Montepulciano d’Abruzzo which is Montepulciano the grape and from the Abruzzo region. Now this is from Montepulciano and mainly comes from San Jose or which known as for a lot of them the Pignolo. And so what is really interesting about these wines is that they need to be atleast 70%, 10% to 20% conolo, and a little mamolo which is another grape you find area. Now they roll in that $20.00 to $30.00 price range, I find them to very interesting alternatives for other high quality Italian red wines. People like Brunello and any other wines of that nature. So I think there should be a very interesting show and I am excited about it. We are tasting all four that we have in stock right now, and I am pretty excited about it. Vino Nobile Di Montepulciano 2005—$17.00. And as 20% conolo, sinerro and mamolo. Let us get a little bit of a snappy snap and then we will give it—because that is what we do on the thunder show! Actually, I got an interesting in Prugnolo component coming through my nose, which is completely throwing me off. I also get some really nice red raspberries. There is a darkness of this wine. It was a kind darkness like a soft and gentle darkness. You know like batman! He is dark but he is a good guy. That is why I am getting a little bit on my nose. Let us give it a try. Good acidity, good structure, nice background, nice tenon I think this wine would like to be open for maybe three to four hours heavy on the sour cherry. I mean sour cherry bomb all over the place. Good length, good finish, a little too much heat but not too bad, we will round it or we buy hot chicken wings. I see that is being a nice combo. Three to four years in the cellar, I think would be a very smart play. An overall solid wines, 17 bones nothing to be embarrassed about a good representation of Vino Nobile Di Montepulciano does. I am going to go 88 point something, I think it is solid, it is like incredible, I got 90 point spectator or remember this as a $14.00 wine reaping it three or vintages ago. But it is a good effort, and it is a nice start. Nice cherries on the nose. I got to tell you really pretty. Let us move on. Dei 2004 Vino Nobile Di Montepulciano, $20.00 of 90 points and they got it. Who writes for Steven Tanzer, Prugnolo Gentile. So Prugnolo Gentile is the clone, it needs to be 70% to be registered as a Vino Nobile. These are all scrape Vino Nobile’s. A lot of times you will find these that last one—no, it needs to be in two years aging for regular, three years for reserve if you ever see a reserve that is the law. That is the differences. 20 bones, 90 points to get it. Let us give a sniff this time. Also pretty tight nose like the last one. This one comes across with little a little bit more cherry coming through on the nose. Dark! Black raspberry flavors coming through on the nose, I get a little bark. I also see little greenish like green leaves not like the bell peppers or things to that nature. Tight tenons, real bitter, mix structure, dark flavors coming through as well blueberry. Dark, sour blueberry pie coming through on the flavor profile but all in all not the biggest, best Vino Noble I have ever had. As a matter of fact I do not like it as much as the cherry. This goes like 86 plus points. I am giving it a pass at 20 bones and I also–you know the excitement about this wine from. We will get one more shot. It is nice! But I find to have a hollow mid palate. Good flavor I am finished though but that is what I got. Let us move on. Tor Calvano, 2004 Vino Nobile Di Montepulciano, 91 points! They got it! 20 US bones. Let us see what is going on here. Obviously in the Degarra is apparent to be
