Daddy Brad: Welcome back to the lab for the next couple of weeks we are going to be bringing you episode from beautiful downtown Stockholm Sweden. Daddy Clay: Now why we come all the way to Stockholm Sweden because this country is widely said to be the most father friendly nation on earth because it's progressive family live and particularly its unique paternity leave program. Daddy Brad: You know Daddy Clay in United States we have the family medical leave at and that grants families that having a baby 12 weeks of unpaid leaves from their job. And mostly mom’s takes this Dads can too but it is mostly maternity leave but it is unpaid. Daddy Clay; In Sweden by comparison each family when a Swedish baby is born is allotted 480 days of State sponsor ed and paid family leave. Start at 80% of your salary steps down over time that is given 60 days allotted specifically to dad and 60 days to mom, pretty generous often. Daddy Brad: Yes and we found it, it was common for moms to stay home the first eight months and then dads to take over and stay home the next eight months and some companies, some companies actually made up the difference between the 80% to 100%. So some folks got a 100% on their salary and stayed home eight months. Daddy Clay: So you are given the option to stay home get on the baby bond with the baby without making a professional sacrifice. Daddy Brad: Yes, yes and no other guys were worried that they were going to loose standing in their office by taking off the time because everybody does it and it seems to be widely company. Male: So from September to the mid April I was on paternity leave it is so great being home you get to know him and you have to take not only the good times but the bad times. Female: So me stronger and makes us stronger and makes him stronger it is really the best for the family. Male: I understand how it is to be at home everyday. Taking care of them when they are ask me to be home happy and when they are not happy especially when they are not happy to do all the stuff. I know it means to that and she wants to know what is like to be when I am at home. Male: I have been home since the middle of December, I will be home all through the summer, and I get back at work in August. It is a good thing for me right here, it is going to be a star and I see were about the family now after I have been having this green opportunity to stay home. Daddy Clay: They take that and you pair it with the Swedish Day Care Policy you got impressive kind of package there. In Sweden every child over the age one is guaranteed a spot in the Day Care either Private or State subsidize State run and you are guaranteed the spot the most you are going to pay for a Day Care $200.00 a month that is the cap maximum. Daddy Brad: Yes, amazing we have visited one in—probably United States which for that specific type of program $800.00. Daddy Clay: Very impressive if you got some thoughts about the Swedish system that we have just been describing to you please leave us a comment in this video go to dadlabs.com go in the community start a conversation trend. Let us know what you think, could we ever implement this in United States. Daddy Bra
