Speaker: What's the most disgusting that you have eaten? Speaker: Disgusting is a word I never use. Speaker: Why, what you have in mind? Speaker: The yellow thing, ha? The heart? Speaker: The heart, yeah. Speaker: A heart is familiar food for me, but what I have never eaten is a heart from Yellow Fin Tuna just caught in the waters off Samoa Speaker: Still beating? Speaker: Still beating. Umm, not bad actually pretty darn good. Speaker: Spending an afternoon on the water with these seasoned fishermen, means trying a few new foods. What are you cooking up over there? Speaker: Some Palolo that's right, this is the caviar of the Pacific. Speaker: I got to see this, oh my god. Are you kidding me? Speaker: We only catch it twice a year. Very expensive stuff. Speaker: It's spoiled worms. Speaker: Well it is. Yeah Speaker: Oh my god that stuff wreck. Palolo are the edible portion of type of worm living in the coral reefs of the south pacific. Twice a year they come out at night to spawn, and are eagerly scooped up by Samoalians who often hold celebrations around the event. Speaker: You don't want to cook it too much. Speaker: Oh yeah you don't want to wreck that nice piece with flavor that you got going on in there. I have eaten a lot of worms in my day . With the sheer aroma of Palolo puts it into a category all by itself. Speaker: Let's try it on it's own. Speaker: Once again here is something that looks absolutely wild, smells unpleasant and tastes delicious. Beautiful. It's fantastic. It's very pasty, it's chocky, it's tastes like ground up fish and liver, which I like. I love it's got very fresh ocean taste to it, despite the fact that the smell was little harsh at the beginning. Ah!
