BluePhoenix.tv “The ultimate in anything tech!” Okay, I wanted to make a video for all your Windows Mobile or Pocket Pc band out there about custom firmware. Now, basically I wanted to make this video to give people an idea of what custom firmware is and basically what it is let just say custom release or a custom – let us put it this way. They take out all the junk that AT&T puts on your phone and just put Windows mobile six on it and then add tools that you will actually use. But basically the advantage of this is the phone is ready to use. You have a lot of useful application right out of the box when you install this custom firmware. Now, there are different types of custom firmware. You have custom firmware that requires a hard SPL and what a hard SPL is a boot loader for your phone. Think of it as the bios for your phone and the bios on your computer is what runs the test a post test on your computer to make sure all the hardware is okay before it tries a bit in the operating system and passes that the processing of the computer over your operating system. Same thing with the boot loader on your phone. Now, your phone comes with a soft SPL. Soft SPL can be written too and the reason some of this Firmwares want you to have a hard SPL is because they do not want you to break the phone more less, they do not want you to be flushing going through doing its thing and end up jacking your phone, it totally ruin the phone. But what I would recommend is check out some firmwares or some custom rams that you can get for the phone that come with a safe SPL which is an SSPL which allows you to flash the phone without having to change that SPL because once you flash that SPL on the phone and make it a hard SPL you void your manufactures warranty. With that being said, I recommend SSPL for safe flashing without having to void your manufacturer’s warranty. You can always go back to the official firmware or stick with custom which this ten times better in my opinion. And lastly on this flashing, there is flashing your radios. Now, radio is the actual chip set or the actual software on the phone that runs the chips set, your CDMA or GSM chip inside this phone. It does not anything to deal with Bluetooth or wireless, so do not think that it is just the carrier’s chip inside this phone that talks to the tower. Now, you can flash this ram and the reason you do not want to flash this ram is – not flash rams flash the radios is so that you can more or less – they say that you can get better date transmission, better signal but I really do not think so, I mean honestly if you have Windows Mobile6 installed you are going to have the latest radio, official radio. I do not see any reason to necessarily flash that, I mean, especially if you was on AT&T I do not see why you are having single issues anyway unless you are in the middle of nowhere and that the whole other story. And this is not going to fix if you want to flash your radio you can but it is not going to fix if you are not getting signal at all, you still not going to get signal after fixing or flashing the radio. You get a little bit better signal if you have signal and the will hold on to that signal better but it is not going to pull single out nowhere.
