Female Speaker: 40% of all fatal boating accidents involve falling out of the boat. Many of these victims were not wearing a life jacket or a PFD. Male Speaker: If someone does fall overboard remembering these procedures could save their life. Shroud overboard and then through them a buoyant object to mark the spot, and to help them stay afloat. Female Speaker: Assign someone to keep sight of the person in the water. Use a flashlight at night, turn the boat back, and approach the person with the boat facing upwind. Male Speaker: And remember to turn the boat’s motor off before carefully bringing the person in to the boat over the stern.
