Cutting cement backer board is really easy when you have got the right tool. Hi, I am Tim Carter from AskTheBuilder.com. In the next 60 seconds, I am going to show you how to cut cement backer board just like this and get results like a pro. [Music Playing] There are different ways to cut cement backer board. You can use a circular saw within a brace or even a diamond blade but that makes too much dust and that is really hard on the saw. I prefer to cut cement backer board like drywall. Instead of a razor knife, the tool I use has a single carbide tip. Mark the line on the smooth side of the cement board with a marker. Take the cutting tool and scrape or cut along the lines several times. Once the cutting is complete, lift up the cement backer board. Apply pressure on the backside of the backer board behind the cut line. Once you snap the backer board, take the cutting tool and cut along the line a couple of times to separate in two pieces.
