watchmojo.com The open source aspect of free and open source software refers to something a little different. It refers to the idea that you can get the source code into software that you want to run but there are fewer restrictions on you in the sense that you are not obligated to share the changes and the modifications you make to your software with the wider community. In some sense, this means you are more free in how you use the software but because you do not pass along your modifications and your improvements to the community at large, the community as a whole, in the minds of some people, suffers. So, I myself am a fan of free software as suppose to open source and I like to write programs that the source code is made available to all under the condition that what ever improvements they make, belong to the community at large. watchmojo.com
