A free Mac application from Rogue Amoeba which allows you easily switch your audio input and output sources with a single click without having to go on to your preferences. The first step to get in SoundSource into your Mac, is to download it from the Rogue Amoeba website. You can go to RogueAmoeba.com/freebies/, and in there you will find, as the first application that is free is SoundSource. Just click on download menu, it will start downloading pretty quickly. Once it is done downloading, you will get an install package. Double click on it. You can go ahead and read the warnings for security. You can click on continue, continue. You can agree. You can launch the product upon completion which I wanted this time. I will click on continue. You type in your password, and it will go to through the entire install. You click on quit, you can close this up. You can close down your downloads, your SoundSource. You can eject this one here and if you want, you can read the read me file. I will go ahead and move that to my trash. Now the way you can verify that this has been installed properly, you will see a new icon right here, that shows you a headphone set, and in there you have the actual menu to the application to access. Output your input and your system levels. Now the beautiful thing about SoundSource is you can actually start accessing the and switching what your output is. For example, I have a set of this headphone, I can switch it to my Soundflower, and you will see different outputs and inputs depending on your system so for example on my system I have a line input and internal microphone plus my Soundflower devices. Now if you have other devices they would show up here. Now this is great because if I want to adjust the level, and I am going to do that now, because it will actually affect this recording but I can easily move this slighter to the right to make it higher or to the left, to make it lower. Now in traditional ways, to access this information, you would have to go into your system preferences and then you would have to go into sound, under sound, and then you would adjust your levels right there, and you can see as I am speaking my levels are there. You would move it here in the same thing with your output volume. So you would have to go through multiple clicks. With SoundSource, you will just click on the headphone and then adjust the right there on the flight. As you can see, SoundSource is a great little application for accessing your input and output sources with a single click. Saving you time from going into the Mac OS10 preferences. And you have to admit for the price which is zero, it is perfect. If you have any comments, questions, or would like to suggest a tip, please email me at Marcelo@PixelHeadsNetwork.com.
