Today’s Daily Tip Podcast is brought to you by ScopeBox. Check them out at www.scopebox.com. Welcome to the TDMD Daily Tip Podcast. My name is Marcelo Lewin, the digital media dude. Today’ tip is for Windows users in how to connect to MacDrives using MacDrive 7 for Mediafour. If you are on Microsoft Windows machine and need to get some files from a Mac machine, you have a couple of options. Number 1, you can ask them to burn it to a CD or DVDROM, that works but it is, kind of, slow. Number 2, you can get the file over the network but again that maybe slow especially if you are working with huge video files. If the file you want is in an external drive that is Mac formatted, your best option is to purchase MacDrive 7 for only $50.00. With this little utility, you can easily read any Mac formatted drive on a Windows machine as if it were a Windows drive. I use the MacDrive 7 on my Windows machine all the time because I keep all my media that I am working on a multiple portal Mac formatted address. In that way, I can easily switch from my Mac to my Windows machine and still continue to work on my files without a glitch. So, let me show you how to get it, install it and use it. Getting MacDrive 7 is fairly simple. Just go to the Mediafour website then click on MacDrive 7 and you can purchase it. They also have a free trial. The free trial gives you five days to actually work with it. So, once you download it, you will go through the wizard process. The wizard process is fairly simple; just follow the instructions and you will get it installed in no time. Once you have MacDrive installed, you will see an icon at the bottom of your taskbar. Where it is located, you can see it right here. To configure it, just double click the icon. It will bring up a Getting Started with MacDrive 7. You can explore any disk you currently have installed in your machine. You can burn a CD of DVD that is Mac formatted. You can even format or repair any Mac disks. You can of course check for new versions and you can change MacDrive options. We will go ahead and click on the MacDrive options. Under settings, you can tell MacDrive to check for updates constantly and to remind you of them to show the notification on the taskbar. You can also tell it how to display the filenames. Also, if you load up a DVD or CD that has both Mac and Windows files, you can tell MacDrive to show you either the Mac files on that machine or the Windows files. And then there are some advance features of it that you can set up. Using a MacDrive in your Windows PC is fairly simple. All you do is go to your My Computer and you will see any drives that are MacDrives with the little apple icon. All you do is just use that drive as a regular drive. Just double click it and then you will see all your files and directories. You can create new folders just like normal. You could do anything you do on a regular drive in your MacDrive. Well, that is it for now. I hope you enjoyed this Podcast. I would love to hear from you.
