Before you can work along with the rest of the series, you will need to install ColdFusion and the database program MySQL. I chose MySQL because its robust and it works well on both Mac and PC computers, but you can use ColdFusion with many different databases, including SQL Express and Microsoft Access. No matter what program you choose, the basic concepts are the same. In this chapter, I will give you a few pointers for setting up ColdFusion with MySQL and show you around the database we will be using so you can see how it corresponds to the pages we will create in the site.
