Welcome to Body Performance. I am Steve Turano, I have been receiving this question a lot from email.
Steve, what is heart rate that is most effective for burning fat? Lots of difficult question to answer and here is one. Because there is so many people differ, are you a man or you a woman? Are you in shape or are you out of shap?. Are you highly muscular, are you healthy? So, it is a lot of variables. You can not just throw a formula out of it and say, if your heart reach 132, you will burn lots of fat, you cannot do that.
Here is something to keep in mind. We have a certain amount of blood sugar, glucose and glycogen floating around our system in one time, in our blood stream, in our muscles and in our liver.
When we exercise, and we exercise intensely we use up this sugar. Now, what happens is this that sugar needs to be replaced, because we need ratio sugar available, just in case we get chased by a bear or gorgeous, great looking women. So, when you are exercising intensely and you think you are out of your fat burning zone because your heart was really racing and you are really out breath. Let us say you begin to burn a lot a little more sugar versus fat. This is not a bad thing because what you are doing is you are consuming the sugar that is fooling around in your blood stream, in your muscles, and in your liver.
Now, what happens is we need to replace that sugar. We cannot just leave it empty. So, what happens is your body begins to break down fat and convert that fat into sugar, which now will be readily available to the body. And you can see this when you go out and exercise intensely. Let us see when you go out and you sprint outside, or you are morning a lawn, and you digging dishes. You are doing something that is out of the ordinary. They come inside, you cool about 5 minutes and all suddenly you break out into a sweat. Your body heats up, you cannot see the cool amount.
This is not your body, finds cools up down. It is already cool. This is your body, breaking down fat converting it in to ready available sugar. So, should you go out and cut along again or get chase by a bear. You got available energy. That is your body, breaking down fat. Converting it into sugar, to be use for traditional exercises. So, that is how you consume calories.
