[Music Playing] This is a tough question because what is interesting to some is not interesting to others and vise versa. So, I will start with saying what I think you want is to do something else inside the firm that is not what you are doing now. It is a long way around saying you want to know internal gig, this change is either going to be vertical or lateral. Let us first take a look at vertical changes which means a promotion. I think based on prospectively is easy to assume that the position above is going to be more interesting before we pursue it be sure you like it. Talk to somebody in that position; understand what they do, how they got there, and what are their requirements for being considered to cancel it for it? If you decide it is the job for you, your next step is to do a simple gap analyze. If you know the job requirements, skills and experience is necessary for this job. Take an inventory of what are you stand and be realistic then look at the gaps between where you are and what is required to do this job. Another critical component for a vertical leap and the lateral line is how you are performing on job you are in now. Lot of us think we should be doing some more interesting and we do not understand why we are not listened to. But unless we have a track record of excellent performance you are dead in the water. Imagine if you are the decision maker and someone has not done much for you as for more responsibility and the money goes with it. What would you do? I would say take a hike, you simply do not deserve it. Although since I have been in the business long enough to corporate speak, if I were that manager I would pepper my speech with a lot more ambiguity and saying the fact that the organization is unable to meet your needs in this particular instance. Let say for the sake of argument you are a star performer and the next step is to make your case. You have to see who else is gotten moved up and then how long was the shortest tenure in your position before they moved up and can you brake that record. You are going to gave you boss more than one reason why he or she go to bath for you. One of the mistakes we make is we assume people know us; well some people know you but in the big company it does not surprise in your decision makers do not know you. So, do not rely on the kindness of strangers, make your case. You have to consider not only what you will do for them going up but also who will fill in for you when you leave. Your boss certainly is concern about that so should you be, find your replacement before you approach a boss you can do this best of luck. [Music Playing]
