Hi everyone, I am Eric Rochow and this is Real World Green. The month of December we are going to talk about how to green your holidays. And first off I thought I’d talk about how to green your fireplace and it made me kind of an oxy-moron to have a green fireplace because you are burning wood and all that and putting carbon monoxide up into the air. But it is possible and one way to do it is to consider using a fire log. These you can buy at the store and they are made by a couple of different manufacturers, but fire logs are comprised of sawdust, some natural plant resins kind of waxy material to hold all together. And this one in the pack it says “Agricultural Biomass” so that probably means corn stalks and things like that. But anyway, why is this greener? Well I will tell you. These fire logs will last about three to four hours they look pretty darn nice here. By the way, take your tassel and keep it away from the fire. And in the same amount of time that this fire log burns three or four hours, you are going to be putting an awful lot of regular fire wood into a fire like this. So from the time it takes to burn one of these you’re going to burn quite a few regular fire wood logs. So in that manner where you are using less firewood we do not cut down as many trees, we are putting less particulate matter up because we are burning fewer logs, and less carbon monoxide into the air and particulate matter. So consider that. We have more information at the greenhouse – green-house.tv on these fire logs. Tell me what you think alright. Visit our site and give us comments. Have a great day I will see you later.
