Gwen: Hi, I am Gwen Schoen and this is my friend Isabella and today we are going to make a craft project. We are making bread dough hearts to use for Valentines Day gifts. So, we are going to start by making a bread dough that it is a half-a-cup of salt and a cup of flour and Isabella is going to add half-a-cup of water to it. Just dump it all in there and then mix it up really good. You could probably dump it out on the canner here and let me put a little bit of flour down to it so it does not stick. Okay now. Isabella: Okay. Gwen: Now, kind of squeeze it together with you fingers till you get a nice soft clay to work with. And I will take that. Isabella: Yes, I like sugar cookies. Gwen: Yes, I like making sugar cookies. And use the rolling pin to roll it up towards up 4th of an inch thick. It is just like you are making sugar cookies. Isabella: It does not stick. Gwen: Yes. That looks good. Isabella: It is like perfect. Gwen: Okay, so now we got the dough all rolled up. Cut out some with heart shapes with your cookie cutters. And that looks good. You know what I found out, that is good do not press it all the way just a little depth. Isabella: This is tiny-bit, right? Gwen: Yes, that is perfect okay. Isabella: So then-- Gwen: Put then on the cookie sheet, just like you are making cookies. Okay and let us cut out a few more. Now we could roll this out again and cut out some more cookies but let us get this started in the oven since they take so long to bake. Isabella: Okay. Gwen: We need to bake them at 250 degrees for about two hours so they will get really hard. Okay, so now they are baked for two hours and they are really nice and hard. Isabella: Yes. Gwen: It would be great. Okay, the next step is to paint them on. We are going use regular craft paint, water-based craft paint that you can wash off with water. So, what color do you want to start with? Isabella: I like the red. Gwen: The red, okay. Put a little bit in our container. I am going to start with white. Isabella: Right there. Gwen: Okay. And after this the paint gets nice and dry, we will spray it with a sealer and I will make it nice and shiny. Isabella: Cool. Gwen: Okay. So, I am going to put a little red border around my heart. I like the way you did that. Cut out a part in the middle. Isabella: I kind of like that too, it is cool. Gwen: So, it turned out really pretty did it not? Okay, that is looking very nice. Isabella: Very nice, it is good. Gwen: Does it? Okay now, I am going to add a little of this glitter glue around the edge. Okay, I added it stripe of white glitter on there and I am going to have another stripe of red. I think that turned out really pretty. Isabella: Yes, I think it did. It’s kind of a little pattern. Gwen: How is the pink working out? Isabella: It looks good. Gwen: Good. Isabella: I like pink. Gwen: I would like this glitter glue. It does look really nice, very pretty. Well now, when this is dry we could spray them with an acrylic sealer and then we can add little flowers and things too if we want. Then we can add pins for the back and magnets. Isabella: Cool. Gwen: Okay. Well, let us put some roses on this and we will use white glue for that. Isabella: Okay. Gwen: Because the hot glue gets kind of stringing and that is hard to manage. Isabella: Yes. Gwen: But then it will take a few minutes for it to dry but I think that will look nice, but let us dry it clear. Now, we can either do refrigerator magnets. We can have some little flat magnets we can glue to the back. Isabella: Cool, I like those. Gwen: Or we can put a pin on then you can wear it as a pin or we can glue these sticks on the back and you can use those to stick in the pot for the plant. Isabella: Pot? Gwen: Yes. Isabella: Cool. Gwen: Let us get a pin on the back of that little pink one there and turn into a pin you can wear. Isabella: Okay. Gwen: That would be fine. Isabella: Okay. Gwen: Now, this one we put little fabric roses on the front. Isabella: Okay. Gwen: So that really decorated it nice. Okay, you hold it and we will glue the pin on the back. Isabella: It is so cute, let us put the magnets. Gwen: Okay. And it can be a nice refrigerator magnet. Do you want to glue it? Isabella: Sure. Gwen: Good job. Okay so, we could put one of these sticks on the back if you want them and use it as a pot sticker. Isabella: Okay. Gwen: How about this nice pretty red one? Isabella: That is pretty, I like that. Gwen: Okay. So now, we are all set for Valentines Day. I am going to give this one to my mom. What about you? Isabella: I think I am going to give this one to my mom too. Gwen: Good.
