Hi there! Now updating your kitchen can be a daunting task. I know, I know too well, but that's why I'm here. Now this kitchen is April's kitchen. She lives in Colton, California and she writes, "I recently moved into this home and I am looking for some cosmetic upgrades for my kitchen."
Now April, looking at your space. It's in pretty good shape. You've got good cabinets, decent flooring, but it definitely needs some color right off the back. Don't be afraid of color. Color is a great way to infuse your own personality and also life into your space. And most importantly, paint is one of the least expensive ways to really transform the energy of the room. So you want to color that really speaks to you, so that you can feel happy and great in your space everyday.
Now another, thing, you really don't have any window treatments or anything that to me is a little bland. Now, if you look at this particular kitchen, we did a pink roman shade. Now I know you're thinking pink roman shade, but as you can see it's gorgeous and it's one of my favorite window treatments we've done on Spice Up My Kitchen. You can go with a wood blind that kind of matches your cabinet.
Window treatments will really make a huge difference, trust me and they'll give your kitchen a more of a finished look. April, I am going to tell you another, thing you need in this kitchen is a backsplash. And you can really create a cool focal point by doing a vibrant backsplash. You don't have to spend a lot of money and you could do like a ceramic or porcelain tile backsplash. You can get those for like $1-$10 a square foot.
Now another backsplash I like was this brick veneer backsplash. I mean check this out. It's easy to install, it's not that expensive and it warms up the space. Another thing, you don't have any hardware on your cabinets. That's a really easy inexpensive cosmetic upgrade to do and we look at this one right here, Do you see how it makes this wood pop? Hardware can set the tone for your space; it will really help. So try it.
Lastly, bring in some countertop accessories, maybe countertop appliances, a pretty bowl of fruit, some gorgeous flowers like this. It's easy, inexpensive and instantly adds the pop-up color to your space. In no time, you feel like you got a brand new kitchen. See it's easy. Another kitchen saved, keep the questions coming in. I'll see you next time.
