So we take the 1 from the one's place and write that down here and we take this 2 and we bring it up here. So now we have to add all of these numbers plus 2 which will equal 18 and we bring this 3 down. Next we will keep the 1 and we bring it down here. Now we have to do the same thing when we go for 21. We take the 8, put the 8 in front of one's place and we bring that down and take that one and bring it up here. Now we have to add 1+1+2 which will equal 4 and that is column addition.
