Well you know, if there is only two things you do to help your lawn this years other that mowing it. It is probably put some lime on it and aerates it, takes some course out your lime. Now, a lot of people will use forks and try to aerate their lawn by sticking in a fork and start wiggling it back and fort. Now this is good, but it is not that great cause what happen is you stick it in any wiggling it back and fort and your compacting the soil against the side of holes, which means you are not going to get as much air down by the root system. Now it does do a good but it is a lot better if you actually take those course out and now if you neither rent a machine or you can get this hand course you stick-in and you can pull them out. Now the other thing is lime. Now, when you go no to a garden center you may see a lot of different types of lime. There is calpril, and there is the rapid lime, or the most popular dolomite lime. Now, these are all good but I like the dolomite lime because it has a high level of magnesium in it, which is great for your lime. Now, even with dolomite lime, there is different type to those as well. Now the main thing with different types of dolomite lime is the way that is applied. Now with the most common is actually called is just a sort of a powdered liming, you see that around it is also the least expensive. The problem with this lime is that you actually have to use a drops spreader. Broadcast spreader is just makes a big mess. It powder all over the place and it des not applied it very evenly. The next type is called a number 20 grade. Now this ones more like sand and if you do not walk too fast with the broad cast spreader it will actually work quite nicely and a drop spreader works great. The last one is the DoloPril it comes in a pril form and you can use it on either a drop spreader or broadcast spreader and it works excellent. Now, these are all the same in what they do for you lime in a sense that they cover about 11 hundred square feet and it works really well. Now, after you have covered the lime part of pH part of lime, you may want to put on a moss control. Now, why I mentioned these is that if you put on moss control without applying lime you actually have a bigger problem. Moss control in it self with a ferrous sulfate, which is the active ingredient, will actually lower the pH, which will make moss want to comeback even stronger. So it is important to put on the lime first then the moss control. Now with moss control you are going to have different active ingredient percentages. This one happens to be a 24%, but you can find it on the market anywhere from about 9 to about 25, so this one is very high concentrate. The other thing you got in all above moss control is that it does stain concrete products as you can see on the backyard. So if you get on the concrete, wipe it off quickly before you get stain. Now, I hope these helps you have a nice green and moss free lawn.
