Hi I am Jim and I am here to talk to you about how to choose an internet connection. Choosing internet service provider or ISP as they are known could be confusing task but it does not have to be, there are plenty of people in the know in the business who can help anyone who is technically challenged. It is helpful to develop a generalize knowledge of what is out there before you jump at the first option you come across. I will go through some of your options. Number one—dial up. Familiar but slow, customers connect to the internet through their regular house hold telephone line. This option is still widely available but certainly not the first choice now. DSL, cable and satellites—which one do I chose, you may hear this referred to as broadband or high-speed internet access, they are all very fast compared to a standard dialed up. When searching for a high-speed internet provider the best thing to do is educate yourself, ask friends, go to reputable computer store, ask co workers or call local service providers in your area. Internet services come with a variety of monthly fees, you should plan to get some additional software and hardware for protection, this is one trip to the nearest computer store can help. Number two—internet safety. Unfortunately there are lot of people who use the internet for malicious purposes, viruses, spyware, hacker intrusions, they are all dangerous to a computer if anyone who connects to the internet. Find out if the internet service you are planning to use offers any protection against these threats. If they do not, then different companies may try to entice you to choose their service but what appears to be the cheapest monthly rate available. These rates maybe as cut and dry as they look by the time the cheap monthly rate you see advertised maybe an introductory offer for only the first few months. So make sure you check all the fine print. Choosing internet provider or ISP is really not that hard, it sounds like a lot of info, if you do the research, you are lined-up with right connection and you will be happy.
