Dr. Lauren Hurowitz: Hi, I am Dr. Lauren from petside.com. Ear infections can be very uncomfortable to your cat. I am going to show you an easy way to keep your cat's ears clean so that they don't get infected. So before you start to clean your cat's ears at home, there is a couple of things that you want to make sure that you have. First, it's really important that you don't use Q-tips, because this can actually damage the inside of your cat's ear. I prefer to use a piece of gauze and just wrap it around the tip of my finger then you are going to want a good ear cleaner. Your local veterinarian should carry an ear cleaner that's both safe and effective. So what you want to do is take a piece of gauze and just wrap it around the tip of your finger, like this, then I take my ear cleaner and I soak the gauze with the cleaner. You then just want to reach into your pets ear and be gentle. You would be surprised that how much you can actually get out of their ear. Remember to do both ears and this is something you will probably want to do about once a week to make sure that your cat's ear stay nice and clean. I am Dr. Lauren from petside.com.
