Speaker: Sometimes little girls hate bubble bath, sometimes boys, and they end up in your office like a few weeks later, why? Is bubble baths okay? Steve Friedman: Well, there was a myth that bubble baths can cause urinary track infections. This is not true, what it can do is, mimic for ear infection with symptoms. The bubble bath can be an irritant to the the lining of the female genital area or in a male, Meatus. So they do get symptoms of burning at frequency, but an urinary track infection is usually ruled out by a urine culture. If this is the case, just basically stop the bubble bath, and you can use a steroid cream on the area which will resolve the symptoms.
