The most common viruses are trojans that try to steal personal information, and zombie botnets which spammers use to compromise network servers and send out spam email through them without the user knowing (eating cpu and network resources).

This video that I will be telling you how to protect your cellphones from viruses and spyware you might get, or using a peer to peer network. There is two free antiviruses as you can download free, the one is called ClamWin. It is absolutely free under the GNU Public License, let us go to download, you can download it. The next is called AntiVir or FreeAvi, it is completely free antivirus. It has a free mode and it has a Premium and Security Suite. Just go ahead and download the free mode, and you can get different mirrors. You can have actually both running at the same time, both ClamWin and AntiVir. So, if you want to just scan files that you download that you might consider problematic or you are unsure of, you can just go ahead and scan them with AntiVir or ClamWin. Now, no antivirus provides a hundred percent accuracy, so I recommend using a free online scan, it is called Jotti. Lately, it has been up massive server loads, when it is said a hundred percent, it will not let you select the file. But what it does is it scans for viruses with several scanners, I do not know how many this is, but you can with several virus scanners at the time providing that your file is under 10 megabytes. If this Jotti, virusscan.jotti.org is overloaded or something, you can also search a VirusTotal, I know that is a terrible name. The VirusTotal does the same thing; you can upload a file that is under 10 megabytes and scan it. This is very useful for things like key jams or something like that, it has got—if those come with the file you downloaded off to peer to peer network, many times the key jams are just viruses themselves. Now, even if you have a virus scanner, virus scanners it would not detect Spyware most of the time. Spyware might be something that had like a pop-up window whenever you start Firefox or Internet Explorer. It may not delete anything and may not do anything specifically. Really malicious for them maybe annoying and then it gives you pop-ups or other nuisances. So, we have two things for Spyware, that is called Spybot search and destroy. The thing has a registry, do not click the Sponsored links, be sure not to where they might give you a commercial product. So, Spybot search and destroy is a simple Spyware scanner, and it also has a registry tracker. So, if you keys and tries to add something to your registry, you will immediately know if you use this program or if you just activate it while you are running suspicious files and the virus scanner did not find anything. Another one is called Ad-aware, since a lot of people know about these. I will not spend too much on them. They are pretty straightforward, you just download them and you run the scanner. A third type of protection is a Firewall, I really like Sygate personal Firewall, I do not like the windows one. And, if you download their old Sygate personal Firewall, you can download it free, it is completely free now and it will not charge you anything. Like many other things, it is incompatible with Vista, so do not try it if you have one of those Vista. And that is basically it, you can get all three sections of protection as Firewalls help from people that try to port scan you and try to find, if there is already virus on your computer. Basically hackers can just scan your computer, find the open ports and try to gain access through the number of exploits. Or, they can use tricks to try to bypass several security features and peer to peer networks so they can leech of you. Without having upload or anything, they can basically allocate their bandwidth to you, I mean to them selves. Spyware is just mostly registry stuff, it is a stuff that virus scanners really do not detect and this just usually annoying stuff, it does not actually do delete files, they usually tracks what you type, collects marketing information and stuff like that. Viruses of course are actually defined to that as anything that replicates itself. So, if it is a program it replicates itself, it can be really annoying and make 5000 files at just a sheep or something like that. Something ridiculous where you can actually do damage by the leading and creating sub variations in the same program. So anyway that is it, thanks for listening to this story.
