Fast Lane Tennis Shot Type #5 Side-T Set-up and Passing Shots The Side-T top-spin forehand is one of the most underused shots in Tennis. You see it among the pros but not that often in club championships or even among the juniors. The good news is that it is not that hard a shot to master. The main opportunity we think of to hit the Side-T is when our opponent is at the net and we go for an angled cross-court passing shot. The key to this shot is not to hit the ball too hard, as the distance from the baseline corner to the Side-T is only 66 feet as compared to hitting to the deep cross-court corner which is the distance of 83 feet or 17 feet longer. The often overlooked opportunity to also aim for the Side-T is when the opponent is on the baseline. Hit this sharply-angled shot and your opponent will have to run wide and outside the court area to retrieve it, setting you up for an easy winner into the open court.
