Hi everyone! Today, I am going to teach you how to do the card catch magic trick.
First, let me do the performance. We need two cards. We will use the black nine and black 10. A round taken just from the deck and we are going to insert these cards randomly. I will just stick one right there and we are going to put the black nine right over here. Now, if you are doing this for a spectator, you can let them put them wherever they want and then you just close the pack of cards just like so and square it up, very fair.
And, what the magician myself will attempt to do is throw the deck into my left hand and find those two cards, the black nine and the black 10. Here we go, using a little bit of magic of course. One, two, three, just like that, two cards jumped out of the deck into my hand. Let us what they are, the black 10 and of course the black nine, that is the card catch.
Now, I am going to teach you how to do this. You are going to need to go through your deck and pull out the nine of clubs and the 10 of spades and you will also need to put for this magic trick the other two black nines, so, the nine of spades and the 10 of clubs. So, you are going to need these four cards, the two black nines and the two black 10s.
Now, before the magic trick starts, you take 10 of clubs and put it on the bottom of the deck and you take the nine of spades and you put it on top. So, the only set up is on the top of the deck, you have the nine of spades, the bottom of the deck, you have the 10 of clubs and then on top of the deck, put the three remaining cards, the black 10 of spades and the black nine of clubs on top. So your preparation is the three cards on top are the 10 of spades, nine of clubs and nine of spades and the card at the bottom is the 10 of the clubs. Now, while you are performing this, do not flash the bottom of the deck, keep it like this, you do not want to let them know there is another black 10 on the bottom, so you will keep it like this. And, what you do is just go to someone and say I have got a deck of cards and we are going to use the two top cards which happened to be the 10 of spades and the nine of clubs.
Now, when you are performing this, do not mention the names of these cards, just say black 10 and black nine because they are going to switch later, but they will not notice unless you make a big deal about it, so just say black 10 and black nine. You hand them these cards while you are fanning the deck and you tell them to insert them wherever they want. So, maybe they will put one here and maybe they will put the other one right here, it does not matter. You close the pack carefully, square it up and then you go on to tell them that you are going to find the card like throwing the deck to your other hand, you are going to find both of their cards instantly. Now, what you will do is you take your right hand and you hold onto the deck like this. Kind of snug, you do not want it too loose that the whole deck will go flying. So, you hold onto through it like this and then on the count of three, you throw the deck quickly and you release just a little pressure and what happens is all of the cards in the middle fly to your left hand and the one on top and the bottom will stick, watch. Here we go, one, two, three, just like that. And, you can go a little faster so that they do not see the card on the top and the bottom actually sliding up. If you move fast, they will not look like they are coming from the inside and then you go on to reveal that you just found their two cards.
Now, in reality, these are there two cards. They really have the 10 of spades and the nine of clubs, but they will not catch that because they are not paying attention. So, it is very magical, they will have lots of fun, they can examine the deck, there is nothing to find, it is a regular deck.
