I have got the problem with deer in my yard, their eating everything. I am going to grab in here and Anne is going to help me. So here all the stuff, what do I do? Anne: Deer repellants are basically base on the idea that their smelling something they do not like. The smells that they do not like are base on things that most people do not like. Most warm blooded animals do not like the smell of garlic. They do not like the smell dry blood. They do not like the smell of anything rotten like rotten eggs. David Epstein: I am putting this stink bomb in my yard? Anne: These are the product that either you apply as a spray or liquid spray or you applied as granules. You always have to reapply it. A lot of things spray comes down time, rain, sunlight, they just wear out. Given that you going to reapply it is probably a good idea especially with your deer repellants. To choose one brand and maybe switch to another brand because once they get use to it they do not feel the threat. If they have the sense of the new smell then their going to go, I do not know what that is. I am going to be more cautious. These are base on the fear response. David Epstein: This is like Coyote urine, like someone got a Coyote to pee in that bottle. Anne: Exactly! David Epstein: A real Coyote? Anne: A real Coyote or real Bobcat or a real fox. You can buy Predator urine for various animals. The only trick here, is buy something that will actually scare them. If I really was going for it I think I chose Bobcat. If you got any enormous area you know you are not going to go out and reapply repellants. You may want to think of that doing fencing or netting. They hate the idea of feeling their trap and have no exit. If you put it far enough away that they know I cannot get out of there if I were to get in there. That is the idea of placement for fence. David Epstein: We learned a lot about keeping deer out of your yard today. We have got all this different product around here basically we want to give the deer something a they do not like to eat or they do not like to smell. We want to get that smell out there so do not keep away. And remember to mix it up the deer will get used to it just like you get used to the bad taste or bad smells so with the deer. Change up your products from time to time and always reapply. [Music Playing]
