Hello! I am Alan B. Densky. I would like to welcome you to chapter 1 in my series on How to Loose Weight using Hypnosis. My goals in the series are to entertain you while I give you solid information and a set of tools that you can actually use to make rapid changes in your life and your lifestyle. I have designed the series of videos tips to help you on how to use the amazing power of hypnosis to unleash the awesome power of your unconscious mind to overcome all cravings and break through your urge to eat compulsively so that you can lose weight quickly. You can look good and you can feel great. Yeah, yeah, I know, I know you have heard all of that before but I guarantee you that I have the answers that you have been looking for. Research at Tufts-New England Medical Center has proven that all of the popular diets work when you can stick to them. Atkins - low carb; The Zone - low glycemic index; Ornish - low fat; and the Weight Watchers - low calorie diet. Unfortunately research has also proven that very few people can stick to any diet because of their appetite. Webster's dictionary defines the word appetite as the desire for gratification of some want, craving or passion. So what good is a diet if you can't stick to it because your appetite is out of control. Now appetite is not hunger. Hunger is defined as the body's call for nourishment. In other words, when the body needs food for fuel then you feel hungry. By that definition, it's almost impossible for you to actually be hungry if you are overweight because you have got plenty of fuel in the form of body fat stored on your body. However, it is possible for you to have feelings that you interpret as hunger and the stomach contracting in expectation of being fed, causes those feelings. Why does the stomach expect to be fed? Simple, if you eat lunch at noon everyday you will program your stomach to expect to be fed at noon and it will automatically contract at that time in order to grind up and digest the food that is expecting. The problem is that you might be changing your meal times and if you are, you are programing your stomach to contract at many different times. So you are having feelings that you are interpreting as hunger throughout the entire day. Appetite is eating and drinking for relaxation and pleasure. Here is how you got programmed, when you were an infant and you got tired or upset, your mother would put a bottle or a pacifier into your mouth to distract you from that upset. You would get distracted, you would become relaxed and often fall asleep. That scenario was repeated hundreds of times and your unconscious mind was programmed so that when somethings goes into your mouth, you get relaxation and pleasure from it. Remember Webster's definition appetite, is the desire for gratification of some want, craving or passion. In plain English it is eating and drinking for relaxation and pleasure. So if you feel tense or anxious, you have an appetite, a craving for peace and relaxation and because of your programming you have a compulsion to put food into your mouth to satisfy that need. As a young child, your parents may have insisted that you clean off your plate because the children in China are starving or maybe for you it was Russia or some other country. Then you got a nice present, a big reward for eating everything that gave you a sweet desert, maybe a cup cake, right. May be mom and dad made eating fun, of the maternal, here comes the train as they shoved the fork full of food into your mouth or how about, little Suzie is such a big girl watch how she eats everything up. These boys and girls is computer programming, it is how you learned to get pleasure by putting food into your mouth. Here are some more computer programming, is mom or dad overweight. Didn't you watch them eat as a young child? You learned monkey see, monkey do. If you stop and think about it, you probably can remember many times in your life when you associated food with pleasure. Family get togethers usually combined eating with socializing. How about dating, dinner and a movie and what about snacks after the movie. Emotionally when you are up, you can eat and feel even better, right. You can feel better temporarily any way, you feel worst later when you realize what you have done. How about when you are down? Again, you eat to feel better temporarily. How about when you are bored or tired or tense or sad? Almost any emotion can be an excuse to eat for temporarily acquiring relaxation and pleasure. If you remember nothing else from this chapter on Appetite Suppression, remember this, you will never lose weight until you feel motivated and one of the most effective exercises that you can do to motivate yourself to lose weight is to visualize yourself with the body that you would love to have. If your imagination isn't that good, you can picture someone who has a great body and imagine your head on that body. And as you see yourself with that great body, you should see yourself living at a peaceful, happy and secure life. Do this mental exercise three times a day. It's especially effective if you do it as you are falling asleep at night or when you are awakening in the morning. In chapter two, we will discuss exactly what you can do to eliminate the cravings that cause you to eat for relaxation and pleasure.
