How to make a garden Basket Let us make a basket here. Now you can use normal moss if you would like or you can use this preformed packages and with these, they are quite nice. What they are intended to do is you start up a little soil in, mix them up and then you fit the plants between these little cracks. Now I like to do a little bit of a variation on this and what I would like to do is I am just going to take this right out of here, so I would like to start with a nice base and I just take off at about two inches above the top here. I am just going to cut these guys right off here. I am going all the way around, and what this is going end up doing is it is going to give me a nice base, that is something to work with. Now the company also, this is a company called Just Moss, it is Sphagnum Moss out of New Zealand and what they recommend to do is actually water it a little bit before you put any plants in and this will fit really nice right there. So now I have got a nice little base and they say put a little bit of water and just turn to plump it up. I am not going to put too much because I do not want it too messy and what I am going to do something a little different is when I get the plant centered and the soil in I am actually going to water it heavily over the next couple of days and then this is going to be plumped up and hold really tight. So the next thing that I need to do is to put some soil in and this is all a nice pre-moistened soil, sort of a pit, pearl like mix, pop it down and now it is time for the plant. A trick I have heard is wrapping the plant in cellophane just to hold them so that they would not damage but I am going to sneak them underneath here and I think I can do without causing any trouble. And I will slide this around and then I would work my way all the way around and then add a layer of moss and then continue right up to the top. ]
