Hi! I’m Sandy with A floral and today we’re going to make a door sway.
So often we put round arrangements on our door, and our doors are oblong. So today I have a fight this branch and some maiden hair fern, and we’re going to lay those together to make the base for our arrangement. And then you can take this or wire this, I’m going to weight and add some flowers to it.
I have some baby’s breath, and I’m going to add three stems, I’ve actually cut out the center stem on these because I’m going to make this arrangement in two pieces. So now I have greenery, maiden hair ferns, some baby’s breath here, and I can’t bent it around to give it a little dimension which is very important, you don’t want it to look flat.
And then I got some stems of larkspur, isn’t that beautiful? Look at the colors on that, yellows, and peach and you notice I’m always working with three. I have tree stems of greenery, I have tree stems of larkspur, and tree stems of the baby’s breath.
I’m going to told you I was going to work in two, so I have a small one, a small piece of fichus, and a little piece of maiden hair fern, this are the pieces of baby’s breath that I took out, and then I have a dahlia which is quite beautiful comes with a bud.
So this is one section of our sway, and over here I have the other section, and I will add the dahlias, this time of course three of them and this is the other section, and won’t that look beautiful hanging on your door?
Let’s turn the stems off and wire it all together. It is important to be very strong because these are pretty heavy wires and have a good wire cutter, we do have this available at A floral, so you want to pick one of those off or several, to have one in hand.
Now I’m going to the top small part and attach it with the bottom. You can wire this each piece as you go along or you can take a chance and wire it all at once like I do. tall it nice and tight because this is what’s holding your arrangement together, you can also use the floral tape to hold it together, and it might not be a bad idea to do both, wire it, and take it.
Once you have everything placed the way you like it, then what we are going to do is put ribbon on the center, and we have this lovely ribbon, nice and colorful, perfect for a summer design, and we’re going to wrap that right around the center of our design. You can then use the wire from the bow to make a hanger, make a little loop and twist to hang your design with. Once you have it all together then you can adjust your flowers to make it the shape that’s perfect for your door.
