Scott Straub here. What I am going to talking about today is how to make any notebook go from this to this in minutes and it is simple and easy to do. Let me show you how. Let us take an example of here is an inside part of a notebook and this was a notebook that I used to have when I was in school and when I taught many students have very similar notebooks and not only could they not find things but they just felt like they were messy and teachers often look upon students who have notebook it looks similar to this are just poor students. People who do not care and you do not want to fall on that trap and you do not want your child to fall on that trap. You must rather have them to have a notebook looks like this. So, let us work on the outside today. Every good notebook should have front cover. In this case what I did was just use an eight and a half by 11 sheet of paper let us talk about the special type of paper I used in a minute but this is just regular paper and in Microsoft word I just used something called Word Art, although you could just type it out regular. But Word Art just makes words look pretty and you know unique and I just pick the color and the style printed detail of the class and that was done. And then I wanted a picture in front just to jazz it to tiny bits so, because I cannot draw and I do not want to go to a magazine and cut out things, although you could do that I just went to google images found an image save it and then just paste it right into the document well on another video we are going to show you how to do that but for right now let us just look at the process. And then finally I always tell students to make sure they have their name on the front and on the side which will show you have the period and the name of the teacher and to write piece some other important information as well. But make sure you have the base line information. Now, one thing this often over look is the side of the notebook people do not often label them and not only does it look neat but when they are lined up of their locker or on a shelf you can just find what you need and grab it immediately. So, in this case what I did was I landscape the paper meaning if there is a setting in Microsoft word. Sorry, I am not Mac users and I am not quite sure exactly how you use in there but portrait is the long version of one paper is in the printer but you can make it print side ways called landscape so very simple function defined in word just ask anybody. And what I did was I just print it out the titles the various class is using Word Art again just think of colors just to just suggesting up but they could be all the same does not matter. Simply cut them and here is a little tip why often do as I nip the edges so, when you are slide it into the side of the notebook some people called the spine or this blind. It will slide down they are a little bit easier and I made this a little under one is you think about three quarters of an inch because the notebook was a one inch notebook and needs have a room in the slide in there. Now, one tip is or I just say another tip is to use different colored paper. Now, not only it is a different color it is thicker. It is almost like postcard paper and the way you find is you look for paper that is 65 weight pound paper. You can get a little bit a heavier or a little bit lighter but that gives a that thickness that gives of that heavier feel is just looks and feels good. And you can get anything from white so just bright color like I have right here. Let me show you some examples. This is just a wide variety of colors and they are great for posters and projects and I used to have my students just print out their homework on this colored paper too. Really made this standout from the crowd just gives it that little extra puncher edge. But in this case it work great for notebook covers and what you do is just slide the covers in. In this case, we are putting the side in right here put it in and in the matter of a few minutes you have a great looking notebook. Think back to that original notebook result the red one that was just awful this one takes a few minutes to do. Look at this book on this looks. If you have multiple subjects simply print them out and I could have put pictures in here organized it in a different way this just happen to work really quickly and easily this was simple to do that is why I did it. But you can do in any pattern that you want. You can go from this to these in minutes. Thanks everybody.
