First thing we have to is make some sense out of the layout of the keyboard. First, point out that the piano has groups of three black notes and groups of two black notes. Three black notes, two black notes. And then, let them play all over the keyboard this two different group. Three, three, three, three, three, two, two, two, two, two, two. Let them make a game out of it playing that all over the piano until they feel very sure that they understand and distinguish between this two groups. We are dealing with very young children sometimes so they can get confused. After that, they will be visually aware of the pattern of the black notes and they can orient themselves to find the right notes. This is what we are trying to do here. So, let them internalize this and become familiar with the piano and enjoy themselves until they feel relaxed with this first lesson. Remember, patience and relax.
