Technique is vitally important when doing jumping drills we want to make sure we are not overstretching certain muscle groups by having poor technique. Posture is the first key to your technique. If you want to try to keep the chest up and the back flat not hunching over so the gravity is pulling you forward. We want to work with gravity up and down as we do our jumping drills. The last thing that happens before you push off the ground is that your ankle has to be loaded and there stretch-reflex that happens. The key of that is dorsiflexion.
When your foot is in the air you want to lower the ankle joint pulling the toe up toward the shin that is called dorsiflexion. When your foot comes down now all you have to think about when your foot hits the ground is explosively pushing off. We always want to focus on trying to control our movement at the hip this helps to develop good agility and explosiveness the hip area is the most important in terms of developing power. Arms helps us to generate force, we got an action reaction effect. Arms come back in a snap to help put more force down into the ground.
Force application, we want to work on the concept of load to explode that is why we do a lot of our drills from the top of a box or working on the load face to explode. We want to work on applying force to the ground by pushing off in a way from the earth mass.
