Hello and welcome to another episode of web informant. T.V. I am David Strom your host and reviewer. Today we look at secure computing secure mail email security appliance formally known as IronMail, it offers an integrated way to protect your email traffic with superior anti spam protection and it is a simple to set up box. The company claims it can blocked more than 99% of unwanted inbound spam. And here we are looking at a quick traffic snap shot. We would like to focus on in this review is it out bond mail protection compliance an encryption. Here, we are looking at the overall dashboard, which gives us near real time status reports, status of various email services and the traffic that is moving through the box. Secure mail can stop created but nets from sending messages from your servers, as well as data links of personally identifiable information. It does this with a bunch of protective technologies that you can deploy in minutes without an army of consultants or having to write special scripts and filters. Let us go to the compliance tab, you will see along the navbar, here a list of the various methods that it employs. We can load specific dictionaries and look for keywords that are specific to a particular corporate environment, looking for social security or credit card numbers for example. If we go to compliance, content analysis, and dictionaries, you can see we can scroll down the various phrases here that come preloaded for the various regs. We click on the one for the HIPAA you can see the words and phrases that are scanned and we can wait each one look for them in the email header or the body what ever. We can also customized this or create our own. We can set up a various rules and also, under the report configuration tab, see the numerous reports that are available. Most email appliances has the ability to add sites on the white list any traffic through with secure email you could have white list there are specific each user you can see here. Another common feature is the ability to block particular attachments. This is literally hundreds of rules under the compliance advance attachment analysis manage rule screen. Here, we have various other protective features, such as the ability to automatically route traffic to compliance officer, log violations, monitor of hour delivery of emails. What are things I like? First, the price is reasonable with the smallest unit less than $2000.00 plus $10.00 or so, per use or per year. Set-up was quick, thanks to the various wizards. I like the ability to analyze attachment images. We go to cue manager; you can see the various messages that have been quarantined for the usual executables. Under image analysis, we click the envelop icon and then the message part and you can see the images of a famous model here. You could adjust the threshold settings to be more or less tolerant by going in to compliance image analysis manage rules. I also like the way various modules work together to protect your message traffic both from the local level and with the global intelligence that is gleaned from the secure computing trusted source and analyzing millions of daily emails. We have another video reviewed devoted to that service on web and formant. T.V. Finally, I like the various mechanisms for supporting exchanging encrypted email traffic. Email encryptions has been around for more than decade but almost impossible to use by mere mortals. Secure mail is easy implement and used for the encryption features and in support seven different ways that you can encrypt messages, you can encrypt gateway to gateway, meaning the two organizations can transparently exchange messages, as well as user to user, when two people want to communicate in confidence. You can require particular domains to exchange encryption protocols and both PGP and voltage securities servers are supported. Here you see the overall summary of the encrypted traffic that is under this quick snap shot tab showing the proportion of messages that are sent in the clear and green and encrypted in yellow. Things that I did not like are not mentioned in the quick start documents is the fact that you have to open port 20,022 for the license server to communicate to your box. The reporting tab shows you dozens of reports which is a bit of overwhelming at first, although I am sure over time I become more comfortable with parsing this screens. And I also wish that they put in hot links from the alert screen, so that you can understand what you need to do to actually resolve certain alerts that are displayed on the screen.
