How to Prune an Apple Tree Part 1/3 Hi! A two short before and after films here. I’m not going to show you, I’m actually doing a pruning. I’ve done enough of that already. But this one, to give you an idea of how I’m going to prune a reasonably large 15-year old 00:00:15 rosette which fruited very well last year and the last few years. You can see there’s a good branch here, a very nice branch but it’s really growing very low and I can do that completely. This one here, I can remove completely as well. And looking up into the tree, we’ve got a very considerable amount of strong, new weepy growth this sort of thing that was made last year that’s longer than my arm. Too many of those are growing too high. So I’m just going to go over this tree. First of all with the saw, removing all of these low branches and a tip when you’re sawing them up sort them into length, that sort of length if that’s the right size going to your wood burning stove. So saw them up as you tie them off then you’ve got to saw them later. You can see the tree is quite open scented. To begin with anyway, it’s going to be a bit more of later. Okay well I just get and prune this and then I’ll show you what it looks like afterwards.
