A lot of people wonder if replacing an asphalt shingles is a tough job. Let me tell you the hardest part of that the entire job is getting on and off the ladder. To replace an asphalt shingle, all you need are couple of simple tools. You need two different sized pry bars and a hammer.
Now, what you are going to do with those, you are going to pull out the nails that the roofers put in to hold the shingles in place. Now, here is what you have got to know, there are more than four nails that generally penetrate a shingle you have got the original four nails that the roofer used to pull that shingle in place. But when he put the shingle above it, four of those nails from that shingle penetrated the top edge of the shingle you are trying to replace.
You need to use the pry bars to get those nails out. Here is what you are going to do. Go ahead and lift up the tabs of the shingles just above the shingle you are trying to replace. You will immediately see the nails. Use the pry bars to remove those nails. Then lift the next row of tabs up and remove those nails temporarily so that you can slide the shingle that is damaged out of the roof.
Slide your new shingle in place, put in all the nails and you are done. See I told you there was nothing to replacing an asphalt shingle.
