So, for this page, we are going to be using two solid color pieces of card stock and also one sheet of pattern paper that is printed on both sides. As well, we are going to be working with two 4X6 photos. You will need your trimmer and your adhesive, ruler, pencil and scissors.
So, the first step will be to determine which one of your card stocks is going to be the background of your page meaning which piece that you are going to glue down all of your photos and paper too. In this case I think I am going to go with the cream one so we are going to set it aside. Always measure your photos to make sure that they are exactly 4X6 before you start cutting.
So, what we are going to do is we are going to take the blue card stock and we are going to cut it two pieces that are four and a quarter and by six and a quarter which we are going to use as the backing for our photos. So, when you are using your trimmer, you always want to make sure that you are up against the edge so that you get a nice straight cut. And then line up with the measurement that you need. So in this case I want four and a quarter and slice. And then you turn it. You line it up with a six and a quarter and you slice again. And then you do that once more. This time we will cut to six and a quarter first in order to save on our paper and then to four and a quarter. What you then want to do is turn over your pictures and apply the double sided tape. About four or five pieces is enough. And then you want to center it on the backing that we just cut. So, we are going to do that with both of your photos. Applying your double sided adhesive and then centering it on the solid card stock.
What we are going to do next is we are going to cut some strips of paper to put along the top and the bottom of our card stock. So, the first strip that we are going to cut is going to be at four inches. So, you are going to line your pattern paper up with the four and you going to pull it across. And then we are going to cut one at three inches. So, you are going to line it up with your three and you are going to cut it across. One of these strips is for the top and one is for the bottom. Some people like just the straight edge look of that but some other people also like to tear their paper to give it a little more dimension. So if you like to do that, pull your paper towards you and it will reveal the white color at the center of your paper. There is no right or wrong way to do this. You can make it as wavy as you like and then if you like, you can also do the same for the top. Then again with your double sided adhesive, you are going to glue it on to your card stock. The nice thing about the double sided tape is that overtime it does become permanent but if you see you made a mistake and you need to pull it up, you can always do so. In case you find that your paper is crooked, as you can tell, you do not really need much of it and then you just line it up.
So, the next step would be to position our pictures on the page. So, you have to decide if you would like them side by side or sort of staggered. Once you have decided where you have liked them, you just go ahead again on to your double sided tape. And you put four or five pieces on the back and then you stick it down. And you stick it down.
Often, what people like to do is add titles to their page just to sort of sum up the idea of what is going on. So, what you can do is put some of the leftover blue card stock that you have. You can create a little box to put on your page. If you feel like it is too big you can trim it down. But then you have a lot of option. You can go in with stamps and you can stamp over it out. You can use stickers. You can print on your computer at home.
Another good idea is to incorporate something that we refer to as journaling. Journaling is putting a little bit of something on the page. Generally, you want to sum up who, what, where, when and why. What is going on with these pictures? Because even though it is obvious to you, it might not be obvious to the people who are looking at your pages 20 years from now.
So again, with the left over blue card stock that you have, you can measure out how much space you would like to dedicate to your journaling. In this case, I think I am going to give myself about three and a half inches. So, I am going to cut this piece of card stock down to three and a half inches so then, by five inches. If you are going to print on the computer, you would go ahead and do that now. It is always a good idea to do your writing before you glue it down to your page in case I make a little mistake. If you are worried about going in and writing with a pen right away, that is why we have our pencil first so you can do your journaling out with your pencil first and then go back and write in the ink. And then once it is done, you can glue it down to your page the same way that you did the photos. And that is a very simple scrap book page.
