Hi I am Joe Graedon. I am a pharmacologist. I write the syndicated newspaper column “The People’s Pharmacy” and co-host the radio show. You know athlete’s foot can be really unpleasant itching, redness, scaling, cracking, and once that fungus gets in between your toes it could be really hard to get rid off, but there are so many things that you can use in the pharmacy, for example there is Lotrimin with miconazole there is Tolnaftate that you find in Tinactin. There is Terbinafine and Lamisil, Clotrimazole all of these products work, but you are probably going to have to do a little experimentation, because some of the more better for one person than another and only you will know, which product really does the job best, and you are going to have to use them over and over again, because that fungus will keep coming back over and over again that you might want to try some home remedies for example; if you soak your feet in vinegar about one part vinegar 2 or 3 parts water the acidity of the vinegar makes it very hard for the fungus to survive. Also, a little Listerine foot soak will do much the same thing or you can even put a little Listerine in with your vinegar and here is something kind a cute Vicks Vaporub has some anti fungal ingredients, so if you put a little Vicks between your toes it too will help get rid of that fungus that is causing your nasty irritated itchy athlete’s foot.
