Hey everybody welcome to another of Backyard FX. We believe a film’s budget does not determine his quality. I mean did you see Spider Man Three. Yaiks. [Music Playing] This week’s project is viewer request. Tracy uploaded this video to indymogul.com. And now, we are doing a whole episode for him. Tracy: Hi Erik. Tracy Peterson here. I got a challenge for you. I am producing a fun little zombie short film called “Bhudan”. Now, you are the man to come up with the on-budget effects. Please show me what you can do on zombie make up. I would be greatly appreciative. I am going to be watching and if you like to see how your advice affects our production. Please go to www.tracypeterson.com. Do a Youtube search the word “zombie.” and you’ll figure out in amateur film making in the leaving dead are strongly attracted to each other. Our zombie make up kit includes these three ingredients; toilet paper, liquid latex and a basic make up kit. Now, here is a little more info on the products we are going to use for this effect. First we going to need some white cream make up as a base. Then, I use this five color aging kit I got at a costume shop. Also at the costume shop, I picked up our liquid latex. Now you are going to want to test little bit of these on your actor’s arm before you put all over their face because some people are allergic. [commercial] First, have your actor wash his face. And then, apply a base layer of liquid latex which should dry clear in about five minutes. Now, using our toilet paper, we are going to create that cool dead wrinkly skin effect. Apply the toilet paper and then another layer of liquid latex then allow that to dry. Moving to the forehead, I want to create a cool open gush effect. So I am going to latex on extra loose piece of toilet paper which I am going to tear open later. Now a base layer of white face paint to blend with later. Now, I am going to move to the forehead and rip open that gush filling it with black and red paint, darken the eyes, darken around the mouth and then start layering your other colors. Start with the lightest colors and move up to the darker ones. You can always add more colors so just work with it until it looks right. Now, if you are in a pinch and you cannot find any liquid latex, you can always use old fashion school glue in its place. It is not as strong and is going to take a lot longer to dry but if you need a zombie effect, you need a zombie effect. [Test film] Zombie 1: Hey mike. Dinner is ready. Zombie 2: Brains? Zombie 1: Maybe. Zombie 2: Oh wow. This smell is really good. Wait a minute, is this Mr. Jenkins? Zombie 1: No. It’s Steve. The guy who reads our water meter every month. Guess what is coming up at the end of June. If you said National Chocolate Pudding Day, you would be right. But we are also debuting our first monthly special consisting entirely of user submitted content. The deadline to enter is June 22nd. So start uploading your videos to indymogul.com today.
