Hi, I’m Justine Racz again. I’m the author from books such as 50 Bosses Worse than Yours, 50 Dates Worse than Yours, 50 Relatives Worse than Yours. How did I write this books? Well, I wrote very good query letter and that’s why I’m here to talk to you about how you can too and you can be published. My first tip for writing a winning query letter is to keep it a page not over. You have to think about the editor whose receiving this or probably the agent. The agent is the first stop to the editor. Rarely are you going to submit something directly to the publisher. This is a mistake it make sense in someone’s mind to, you know, I do not need the agent. I have a great book proposal sending them right to the editor cut out the agent. I do have to spend that 15% when I get my advance. But from with that it goes right into the slash pile and that is a huge pile of people like you, who have or hopefully not like you who have submitted books right to the publisher. So, again writing a query letter to the editor. Do that first. Keep it short. Think about the time of the editor. They have their own slash file but they’re very kind and they will look through all of them. That said you probably have 30 seconds to capture their attention. Keep it short, keep it one page and get your marketing pitch down. Obviously, set simply tell what your book is about. A lot of people call this the elevator pitch the two minute pitch on paper for you where you write the essence of the book and it’s key points. Keep it simple; keep it one page you do not have to prove yourself in multiple paragraphs. Think of it like a resume. Do not do a too long so they scheme here’s the idea, also send the chapter too of your book along with the query letter. And doing so, basically you’re going to provide a very set succinct description of your book and that’s the manner of time that the public has to absorb the idea of your book because again, this is a business. Publishing is a business. It is not a prestige industry where money is just thrown out to the great novelist and a time of having way those days were done. People want books they want it written by athletes, they want to buy celebrities and therefore you’re up against those people. Unless you’re celebrity looking at this and that would be awesome.
