So now aside from this little fact, Canadian and American thanksgiving traditions are pretty much to see. The origins of Canadian thanksgiving are more closely related to those of Europe. The first thanksgiving celebration in North America took place in Canada when Martin Frobisher an explorer from England, arrived in New Finland 1578. Now he want to give thanks for his successful arrival and so he held with formal ceremony. Now after this, after other settlers arrive they continue this tradition. Originally Canadian thanksgiving was celebrated on November 6 but after a few date changes for several reason the Canadian government declared the second Monday of October as the official holiday.
