Hey, welcome to wathcMojo.com I am your host and today is labor day. It is a federal holiday in both Canada and United States as celebrated every first Monday of September and honor the working people. So how does a holiday get started? Well people were inspired by a parade held Toronto every year and these people were the knights of labor, and they decided to throw themselves their own parade in 1882 in New York City. Now, two years later they threw another parade and decided that they should have this as annual event. Now there is also the whole nonsense of not being able to wear white after Labor Day. Well, one explanation says that wearing white does not exactly hold up well against the cold weather and also gets dirtier quicker in damp weather. Another explanation says that it was a status symbol used for people entering the middle class in the late 19th century and the early 20th century. Now, whatever the explanation is wear whatever you want and enjoy your Labor Day weekend.
