Hi! I’m Dave Epstein, this is Growing Wisdom and we got some work going on behind us. Actually, at one of my client’s house, we got the plan here something that we talked about the client over for the past several months. We’re not taking out all the plants, we are just adding some, moving some, now they are moving a rhododendrun in here that is a little too close to one part of the house. We’re going to move it to the corner and then this big gap over here, we’re actually going to be placing a hepticdium tree in here. Fall is always a great time to transplant, so we chose to wait until the end of October to move this rhododendrun and it will have a really great chance to survive.
We are just going to follow the plans, and we’ve got some small leaf rhododendrun, we got some larger leaf rhododendrun going in, we got a lot of perennials, ranging from seadums to chrysanthemums, we are just really going to make this area look a lot better as folks walk into the house. So process, do the plan, move the plants, put the new one’s in, mulch it and you’re done. It’s actually going to be a pretty quick day, so we figured we’d show you the whole process.
This is a pinus prostrata, one of my job is to be sure that even though we placed it in the plan, when you look at it in the actual landscape it may look a little different. So I kind of step back, I look at it, move it to the left, move it to the right, we’re going to do that with all of the plants now as we continue to place them. At this point we are cleaning up any existing weeds and plants that we don’t want, they’re coming out. Everything’s in place we are going to plant them, water them in well, mulch it and be done. The whole process probably will take about 3 hours from start to finish for this particular job. This particular client wanted a unique rhododendrun, so we actually found a rhody grower and this is a makinoi and pachysanthum cross. It doesn’t even have a name because this particular grower grew from seed and what is wonderful about this is underneath here you have the furryness of the leaf, it’s the indumentums and the top of the leaf you have the tomentum. And it is just very unique, notice the leaves are a little bit narrower, and this particular variety will stay nice and tight.
Next to the walkway here. What I do is I’ll put the entire list of plants for you underneath the video and you could print it out and you can actually see what this particular plan involve and all the different plants we are putting in here. Alright, the guys have left, they’ve mulch, everything is planted and wait till you see how great this looks. The plants are in, the mulch is down, and it is just so much more of a welcoming feeling as you’re walking in to this home. And we hope you learn something here. If you want to redo your yard perhaps select some of the same plants. Remember you could come back every week for all of our tips and helps at GrowingWisdom.com.
