Now, we have defined the roles of the point guard, the power forward and your big men, your best offensive player in the blocks, the most effective scorer. The other two roles that are very key is going to be your two men and you three men. Your three men are going to be what we call your All American player. He is going to be your best all around player, he is enough smart to know he can go to the boards when he sees a lane to try and help on the offensive rebounds.
But, he pretty much like the two men; he wants to stay home to set up for these shots when they become available. Your safety valve for defense is always your two men, raise your hand, step up here number one, and your one man. These two people will never enter into the offensive zone below this fourth hash mark. They are your two safety valves, that is one of their responsibilities is to always be back on defense and to stay on the outside of the perimeter to move the ball.

Your two most critical players on the perimeter are going to be your best shooters. We like to put them in the role, the role of the two men, which is your best three-point shooter and the three men, which is also one of your better three-point shooters. You are going to have to make sure your point is willing to take that shot as well but these two guys are your best perimeters shooters. All they need to do is pass the ball, fake and pass, fake and pass. Make sure they enter into a gap, the four men sets a wall or a pick. He enters into a gap, he knows if he goes down here, he is making it easier for this guy to cover.
We want this guy to extend so his always foul line extended within a step. He is always set up, ready to catch and ready to shoot. Throw it to him, he is ready to catch and then he is ready to shoot. He is always looking toward the basket, pass it back to him. He squared up in triple threat, lead with your right foot, good, and he is ready to shoot. He is always ready to shoot.
Your two and three half have to be your best three-point shooters, they have to know what there roles is. Your two men are going to be other safety valve. Your three men or the role of three men again is to be the All American who can shoot and who can attack the basket.
