Retirement Party Ideas
I love throwing a good retirement party. I did one for my dad. When he retired, he loves bowling. That is one of the key things about throwing a retirement party. It is surrounded with something that a person who is retiring loves.
So he loves bowling. So, basically what I put together along with my family is a whole big bowling excursion. He thought that were just all getting together to go bowling and people starting showing-up that he have not seen in a long time. He just thought that they were there to come bowl with us.
Meanwhile, below in the basement of the bowling alley, we have this whole party that were being planned—a great big deal. Everyone was signing this bowling pin, saying how much they love him and everything.
And so we finished bowling, he had a great game by the way. We take him downstairs to show him something—the locker room. It is like, “Oh! We want to show this room—great bowling alley locker room.” So he goes down there. It is a big hall, all of his friends, his family and people that we has not seen for ages are there and my dad loved it.
It was one of the best retirement party I could have possibly imagine. It really—get home with him and that is what you want to do when you throw a good retirement party.
Retirement parties often have large groups of people involved. You know one thing that it is very important to think about, where they are going to stay? You need to give options. Try and find some nice hotels, maybe do the pricings of the hotels so you can give some information to the people coming in from out of town, you know, they are staying; find relatives that they could stay with or friends that they could stay with—it is really a big fiesta that you want to make everyone comfortable as possible.
Select a theme. We did bowling, you could do Hawaii, martial arts, whatever therein to, you make it about them, that is what a good retirement party is. Find something that touches the person that is being retired because they have a lot more like to live.
