My wife Kathy just left for the grocery store and her birthday is just a couple of weeks away and she told me she would like to have a new sink put in right next to the washing machine. I thought that was a great idea. See now what we are going to do. We are going to put one in right now, right here. Place the sink upside down on the surface of the countertop, nice and accurately. Trace the outline of the sink on to your countertop. The next step is to actually make the real mark that you use for the cut out. The first pencil mark we just made is not the one. It is just a guide mark. You have to make lines about 3/16th of an inch inside that mark. The reason why is simple. There is the edge of the sink here and then you have a metal channel here that has to drop down inside of the hole and these metal channel holds the clips that actually lock the sink into place. One of the biggest mistakes that can happen is to make a 90-degree notch at each corner; you do not want to do that. The manufacturer recommends a radius corner of about a 1 ½ inches. This can by the counter over the pantry will make that cut out for you. To actually make the cut out, we need two tools, a regular drill to make a pilot hole and that pilot hole is necessary for the spiral saw bit that actually makes the cut out. This board is the key to success. We will place it over the cut out to span it and screw it to the actual piece so that if we finish our cut, it will not crack off and fall into the cabinet.
