[Music Playing] Alfalfa contains saponins, proven to help lower elevated cholesterol. Researchers give patients with elevated cholesterol 40 grams of alfalfa seeds, three times daily. After eight weeks, their average total cholesterol was reduced by 17%, with an 18% reduction in LDL, bad cholesterol. Alfalfa sprouts are low in calories and fat, and high in fiber, trace minerals, monoatomic elements and enzymes, all eight essential enzymes. Alfalfa is a good source of vitamin K, which facilitates blood clotting and helps to prevent hemorrhaging. Vitamin K also seems to help the body retains calcium and wear off osteoporosis.
