Hi! My name is Mike, I am from topbutton.com and topbutton.com is a Fashion Media Company that enjoys a subscription base of over 950,000 people. We send out an email to them three times per week, that talks about different types of fashion events, sample sales, we also have great content that relates to fashion and beauty and today we are going to talk about branding.
Branding is probably the most important thing that you need to do in order to start your company. Number one, you need to create something that's called a Creative Brief. This document is going to describe the type of product that you are going to be offering, the type of feeling the user is going to get when they are going to be on the site.
It's very important to have one set of documents, so that everyone who is developing your site could reference and be on the same page. One important element is to create a name. It's very easy to fall in love with a name, but you need to know if your name that you are choosing fits the category of product that you are selling and it does not limit you or pigeonhole you and choice certain demographic.
Choosing a demographic is also extremely important. You don't want to select the demographic for your product that will limit you in your sales. Now if your product and if your business is strictly for that type of demographic, that's perfectly acceptable, that's perfectly fine. But if you are looking to eventually branch out and to start marketing and to start getting sales for the other demographic, make sure that your name that you choose for your company encompasses all of the demographics that you will potentially in the future will want to encompass.
A logo is another element, a very important element of your site. This is how people will be recognizing you. You have your URL which they can be come to the website and they will see your site and there is the first thing that they will notice and recognize, is your logo. Your logo has to be developed based on your creative brief and when you look at the logo, you are supposed to have that sense of feeling and that sense of feeling that you describe in your creative brief should be easily understood when you are looking at it.
Make sure that your logo is versatile, that mean it should account not for only the product that you are selling right now but it should be versatile enough to be able to sell other products that you have planned down the line. In the end, it's your product; it's your company, so you choose the logo that fits you best and the way that you respond to it better.
