My Mother made me wait until I was nine years old to get my ears pierced, because she had a friend who at eight years old, ripped out both of her earrings, while taking off a turtle neck. Now, when I was 18, I got my belly button pierced and then act of rebellion, when I was in Israel. Ten years later, my body rejected the ring, my skin actually pushing out the ring. So, I want to talk to you about some tips on the dangers of body piercing. As body is is moving into the main stream, piercing is becoming more outrageous in more dangerous places. Holes are getting larger; earrings are being put into all sorts of bizarre places on your body. So, before you decide to go out and get your neck pierced, you might want to listen to some of these tips. Piercing can lead to infections, such as Hepatitis B, and C, or Tetanus. So, before you go out to get a piercing, make sure that you talk to a professional and also, make sure that you pick a piece that is made out of stainless steel of gold. The more exabot of the piercing, the more risk for infection. So, if you are planning on getting a piercing anywhere close to a mucous membrane, you better watch out. Get to know your piercer, make sure that they are wearing latex gloves and that they sterilized all of their equipment. You should go through a step by step process with your piercer about the different ways that your wound would be healing, because remember, that what it is, an open wound. Discuss in detail on how to take care of your piercing. How to clean it and how to monitor for infection and allergies? Piercings can be really cool and beautiful and a wonderful way to adorn your body. But remember, you have to be careful, so make sure you do your research, it is your body.
