Host: When can I take a new born baby mixing with people?
Oded Preis: Babies can be taken out, fresh air never hurts anyone. You would want to minimize exposure to people who are sick. Newborn babies should be taken care of by the immediate family in most instances only. Crowded places where people find newborn babies attractive and want to touch them and kiss them and so on, should be avoided, but taking a baby out in good environment is actually beneficial to the baby.
Host: Temperature, is that of any concern in the beginning?
Oded Preis: Absolutely. Babies have issues with regulating their temperature. So they should be dressed properly. Usually a good yardstick is, the baby should be dressed slightly warmer than the parent feels comfortable. A good technique would be to protect the baby with one extra layer above what the parents are comfortable with. As long as the temperature and the weather allows and people don't shy from bad weather outside, there's no reason why a baby cannot be outside with them.
Obviously if it's below freezing or if it's extremely hot, and you yourself are not comfortable being outside, the baby doesn't belong outside either, and the baby should be kept at home in a temperate environment, where the temperature is monitored much easier.
