How To Hypnotize Someone

Have you seen those magicians of olden times where they carry a golden watch hanging from a string?  There is also that spinning spiral thingy that people use to hypnotize. That looks cool but that is farther from reality than anything else that is out there. Whatever your preconceived notions of hypnotism are, it is a highly useful technique. It can be used to look cool in a party. You can also use it to treat phobias. You can even use it to help a person relax. There are so many uses for this seemingly trivial activity.

So, you want to hypnotize someone but you don’t know how. We can help you out in that department. Here are some pointers to help you hypnotize a person.  Just follow these steps to help you get started and you will be hypnotizing in no time.

  1. Pull up a chair and get comfortable. The mind is particularly more prone to suggestion when you are relaxed. This is why some shrinks ask you to lie down or sit. When you are trying to hypnotize someone, have him sit in a comfortable chair. Talk to him or her in a soothing soft voice as though you are trying to make him sleep. You can also have your subject close his or her eyes to help him or her relax more. Another way to help your subjects relax is by breathing deeply. You as the hypnotizer have to breathe in unison with your subjects. Breathe in, hold your breath for a few seconds and then breathe out. Repeat this a few times. This will take several minutes but once the subject is relaxed you can proceed to the next step.
  2. Instruct the person to focus on an object. You will often see an old guy carrying a pendulum as it sways and asks the guy he is trying to hypnotize to relax. That isn’t necessarily the case. Have you ever tried to relax while focusing on a moving object? That is just too hard. It is almost like someone asking you to sleep in a ping-pong tournament. Instead, have him or her focus on a relaxing memory. Tell the subject to see himself in a safe place that is personal to him.  In a few minutes, he should be in a state of relaxation and in your spell.
  3. Suggest slowly and softly. Now that your subject is in a hypnotized state, you have time to ask him to do anything. You can now offer hypnotic suggestion. Tell him to do items in a slow and suggestive manner while maintaining your breathing. Don’t try to force the hypnosis. It will only deter the process. A good guideline is that you must sound like you are suggesting and not ordering someone to do something.
  4. Close properly. After you have achieved what you were trying to achieve while hypnotizing this person, it is now time to leave the experience in a relaxed feeling. Tell him or her “After I count to three, you will wake up in a relaxed and re-energized state and no longer be hypnotized; one, two, three.” You will want to do this so that you don’t leave the person in a highly suggestive state. Some people could take advantage of someone in this state.

If you don’t get it the first time, try and try again. This is not an easy skill to learn. This is especially true because of the fact that people are different. Not all people react to hypnotism in the same way. Once you get the hang of it, you can hypnotize people easily and hopefully you will use this new skill responsibly.
