How To Make Ladybug Crafts

Ladybugs are cute little creatures that are distinctively known for their red color and black spots. Here are some cute crafts that will have you flying high with creativity.

Ladybug Crown
This craft is simple and fun and is perfect for birthday parties.

Each child will need a piece of red construction paper cut into two pieces (lengthwise), a black piece of construction paper, a glue stick, tape, safety scissors, and two black pipe cleaners.

Supervise as each child cuts small black dots and four larger dots (or hearts for girls) out of the black construction paper. Glue the dots onto the red construction paper. Size the hat to fit each child's head and tape it into place.

Take each pipe cleaner and wrap it around a pencil to make it "spring". Unwind about 1/2 inch on the top and bottom so it can be taped to the hat and dots. Tape the pipe cleaners to the inside of the hat and tape a dot to the top of the pipe cleaner on both sides.

Ladybug Wind Chimes
This craft is simple and is made with household items. It is intended for ages 4 and up. Children should always be supervised by an adult.

You will need a clay pot (any size), a paintbrush or sponge brush, a fine paintbrush, black, white, and red acrylic paints, a hole punch, string, two buttons (bigger than the hole in the pot), a few large craft beads, scissors, and a sheet of black fun foam. If you are to hang the chimes outside, you may want to buy acrylic spray or varnish to keep the paint from coming off with the weather.

Run a piece of string about 2 feet long through two of the holes in the button. Then, string the string through the hole in the pot. Repeat the button stringing on the inside of the pot and tie it in a knot before cutting it off. Don't forget to make sure you have left an amount of string to hang it up on.

Take 3, 1 1/2 foot long strands of string and tie them to the button on the inside of the pot at different lengths. Tie the beads to the string on the inside of the pot. This will make the sound.

Cut 5 or 6 small dots out of the fun foam. Punch a hole in the top of each of them and tie them to the ends of the strings. This will create a more decorative aspect of the pot.

Here comes the fun part. Using the larger paintbrush or sponge brush and red acrylic paint, paint the pot red. Let it dry. After it's dry, paint medium sized black spots all over the pot but leave an opening for a face to be drawn. Be creative and paint a cute face for your ladybug using the fine paintbrush and the white and black acrylic paints. Let dry and seal with acrylic spray or varnish.

Hang and enjoy!
